Meet John

First and foremost, John C. Hafley is a conservative lifelong member of the Methodist Church and gives all of his past, present, and future glories to God. He is the son of a Methodist minister and believes firmly there is only one way to eternal peace, and that’s to walk daily with the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus.

Second, John is a dedicated family man. He has been married to his wife Dina, a Conroe High School Graduate, for 25 years. He is the proud father of two amazing children. The oldest, his son, graduated from The Woodlands High School and shortly after, the family decided to move to Magnolia. His daughter is a recent graduate of Magnolia West High School where she raised a Reserve Grand Champion Scramble Heifer at the Montgomery County Fair. Both children attend rival Southeastern Conference Schools, Ole Miss and Texas A&M University.

John started his life of service by protecting citizens and serving as a commissioned law enforcement officer. In his 8-year career, he was the recipient of many awards, including the Medal of Valor and the Commendation Medal for actions he took in saving the lives of citizens of this state. As a prosecutor his duties were to seek justice in the criminal cases he was assigned. He worked his way up to Chief of a felony court.

As a criminal defense attorney, John Hafley focused on client's rights under the Constitution. He fully believes in and embraces The Bill of Rights, an important part of this great document and the cornerstone of individual protection against tyranny and oppression by the Government. He does not take for granted the inalienable rights that have been bestowed on the citizens of Texas and of this great country. He believes whole-heartedly the Constitution’s purpose is to establish Justice for all.

Finally, John is an Iraqi war combat veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and currently serves as a Brigadier General in the United States Army Reserve. He has been deployed to Iraq and Saudi Arabia and served nearly 8 years in an active-duty status and a total of 30 years of service to this great country.*

John Hafley has worked in the Montgomery County Court system for nearly a decade. He understands what it means to be a servant leader, and he wants to continue this history of leadership, duty, and selfless service by being elected as the next Judge in the Montgomery County Court at Law #1.
